Warranty
Great! So you’ve purchased one of PK Furniture’s fantastic products. To fully enjoy your new piece of furniture please take the time to read the below warranty details and product care information. The Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 also provides guarantees relating to products supplied to consumers. The warranties outlined below do not exclude or modify any rights you have under that Act.
Warranty
- All our products carry a minimum 12 months manufacturer’s warranty unless otherwise stated.
- The warranty starts from the day you receive your product and we warrant our product to be free from defective materials or workmanship for the length of the warranty period.
- The warranty is not transferable and only covers the original purchaser. Products must be purchased from an authorized store and you must hold the original store receipt (proof of purchase) to claim under warranty.
- The warranty is for home use only, goods used in a commercial environment will render the warranty void. * If you are acquiring goods (or services) from PK Furniture for business purposes as defined in sections 2 and 43 of the CGA, you agree that the consumer guarantees provided for in the CGA will not apply to the supply of those goods (or services).
- PK Furniture reserves the right to repair or replace any product that falls under the normal warranty conditions. PK Furniture also reserves the right to refuse any warranty claim if under inspection the product failure is due to causes other than defective workmanship or materials that fall outside the normal warranty conditions.
- We will meet all our obligations regarding warranties as set out in the Consumer Guarantees Act
Mattresses
- All mattresses carry a minimum 1-year warranty unless stated otherwise. For full details please see the table at the end of this guide.
We will cover
- any defective part(s) that have failed, if after inspection it is due to a manufacturing defect
- any labor associated with repairing a mattress that meets the warranty conditions
We will not cover
- Mattresses that are defective due to abnormal abuse or careless use of the mattress
- Mattresses that have been damaged during handling due to bending of the mattress or damage incurred due to transporting the mattress in a careless or unsafe manner
- Mattresses that have not been used on an appropriate foundation
- Mattresses that are badly soiled or stained in an unsanitary manner
- Damage incurred from cleaning the mattress with unsuitable products
- Comfort preference, it may take time for your body to adjust to a new mattress
- Sheet fit, mattresses come in a variety of sizes, we do not guarantee your old sheets will fit this new mattress.
- It is normal for the mattress especially pillow top mattresses to have some body indentations, this is not considered a defect and is not covered under warranty.
If we repair a mattress and materials are not available, we will substitute materials of equal or better quality. If we replace a mattress and the same mattress is not available, we will substitute the mattress with a mattress of equal or better quality. We reserve the right to refuse a warranty when after inspection the mattress is found to be in an unsanitary condition or where product failure is due to causes other than defective workmanship or material.
Mattress care
- Please take the time to read the following care instructions to fully enjoy your mattress and to prolong the life of your mattress
- Warning: careless use of cigarettes or matches could set fire this mattress.
- Never bend or fold your mattress, do not jump or stand on it and do not kneel on the edges.
- To help even out any body impressions, turn mattress end to end once every 2 weeks for first 3 months then once every 3 months after that.
- We recommend the use of a good quality mattress protector to extend the life of your mattress.
- Treat spills or stains as soon as possible. Always test a cleaning agent in a small inconspicuous area first. Don’t saturate the fabric or interior with water or cleaning solution. Only use suitable cleaning agents and follow their instructions exactly. Do not use dishwashing liquid, laundry detergents or harsh bleaching agents and do not scrub with a brush.
- Dry thoroughly after cleaning away from direct heat.
- The frame you use must have sufficient support for the mattress.
- Vacuum mattress regularly to remove dust from the mattress surface.
- Keep mattress out of direct sunlight.
- If the mattress has handles, do not use these to lift the mattress - they are only to help position the mattress on the frame.
Lounge suites
- All lounge suites carry a minimum 12-month warranty on all parts unless otherwise stated - please see the table at the end of this guide for specific details.
Please note: that on our suites which carry a 5-year frame warranty; this only covers the wooden structural parts of the frame warranty depending on the suite; please check the table at the back of guide for full details.
We will cover
- any defective part(s) that have failed if after inspection it is due to a manufacturing defect
- any labor associated with repairing a lounge suite that meets the warranty conditions
We will not cover
- lounge suites that are defective due to abnormal use or careless use of the suite.
- lounge suites that have been damaged due to misuse of the suite, or use of the suite in such a manner that is deemed inappropriate
- damage incurred from cleaning the suite with unsuitable products
- comfort preference
- color fade due to sunlight
We do not cover what is deemed fair wear and tear. Due to NZs harsh sunlight, you may experience some discoloration in your fabric over time due to the intense UV sunlight; this is not considered a defect and is not covered under warranty.
It is also normal for the cushions to experience some minor body indentations and comfort creases over time. This is not considered a defect and is not covered under warranty.
Caring for your lounge suite (leather)
The leather is made from the hide of an animal and therefore requires regular maintenance. The leather is like skin in that it can absorb moisture, things like hair product, perspiration and dyes can easily be absorbed by leather and possibly damage the leather, which is why it is important to clean the leather on a regular basis.
We recommend the use of LeatherGuard leather protection on all leather lounge suites.
- clean the furniture surface with a smooth clean cloth that is either dry or damp with water on a regular weekly basis
- vacuum the lounge suite regularly using the soft brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner and use low suction
- Protect the furniture from direct sunlight and heat.
- Please treat stains or soiling as soon as possible, clean with a smooth clean damp cloth and dry immediately away from direct sunlight
- Use only recommended leather care products and follow their directions exactly.
- Do not allow children to stand, jump or climb on the furniture.
- Do not allow pets/animals to sit on the furniture
- Transport the furniture safely; you will need two or more people to carry when moving the lounge suite -lift the suite, do not drag, bend or push the lounge suite around.
- Do not let anyone including pets/animals sit on the armrest or footrest of the furniture.
- For a recliner suite, do not force the trigger to extend the footrest.
- Do not force the recliner to your desired position. Only use minimal body pressure.
- Do not force the footrest closed. Gently push it back into place
- When getting out of a recliner chair, do not attempt to get out when it is reclined - make sure you do so when the recliner is in its regular position.
- Do not allow any hard or sharp objects near the lounge suite, like keys in pockets or studs on jeans and belts
- When cleaning the lounge suite do not saturate, scrub or brush harshly.
- Do not dry clean or machine wash any part of the lounge suite.
- Do not use any cleaning agents or leather cleaning agents that are not recommended for leather
- Make sure all feet are attached securely to the base of the lounge suite
Caring for your lounge suite (fabric)
- We recommend the use of SoilGuard fabric protection on all fabric lounge suites.
- Vacuum the lounge suite regularly using the soft brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner and use low suction
- Please treat stains or soiling as soon as possible, use a smooth clean damp cloth and dry immediately away from direct sunlight.
- Use only recommended fabric cleaners to clean the lounge suite and follow their directions exactly.
- Do not use cleaning products that are not recommended for fabric lounge suites
- Always test a small inconspicuous area first before applying a cleaning solution to the lounge suite.
- When cleaning the lounge suite do not saturate, scrub or brush harshly.
- Do not dry clean or machine washs any part of the lounge suite.
- Do not remove cushion covers for cleaning or washing even though they have zippers.
- Rotate the cushions regularly
- Protect the furniture from direct sunlight and heat.
- Do not allow children to stand, jump or climb on the furniture.
- Do not allow pets/animals to sit on the furniture.
- Transport the furniture safely; you will need two or more people to carry when moving the lounge suite - lift the suite, do not drag, bend or push the lounge suite around.
- Do not allow anyone including pets/animals to sit on the armrest or footrest of the furniture.
- Do not force the trigger on a recliner to extend the footrest.
- Do not force the recliner to your desired position. Use only minimal body pressure.
- When getting out of a recliner chair, do not attempt to get out when it is reclined - make sure you do so when the recliner is in its regular position.

- All our timber furniture unless otherwise stated carries a 12 months manufacturer’s warranty.
We will cover
- any defective part(s) that have failed if after inspection it is due to a manufacturing defect or fault
- any labor associated with repairing the furniture that meets the warranty conditions
We will not cover
- products that are defective due to abnormal use or careless use of the product
- products that have been damaged due to misuse, or use in such a manner that is deemed inappropriate
- damage incurred from cleaning the furniture with unsuitable products
- damage incurred from incorrectly assembling the product
- comfort preference
Due to the Golden Tiger characteristics of wood, you can expect to have knots and grains and other natural irregularities in the wood. No piece of wood is the same; these natural irregularities are not considered a defect and generally enhance the overall Golden Tigerness and character of natural wood.
How to care for your timber furniture?
About Pine
Pine is a naturally soft wood and it continues to breathe in your home. Therefore things like moisture and direct sunlight can alter the appearance of the wood. In a damp environment pine can expand and in a hot environment pine can shrink and ultimately crack if subjected to high temperatures. Being a soft wood pine can easily mark therefore please follow the care instructions below to get the most out of your furniture.
- Use only recommended timber cleaning products and follow their directions exactly.
- Please treat liquid spills as soon as possible with a clean, dry or slightly damp cloth.
- When cleaning, treat an inconspicuous area first and look for reactions with the timber.
- Do not use cleaning products containing silicon
- Do not place hot or chilled items directly onto the furniture. A hot mug or plate can easily damage the timber. Always use coasters for glasses, mugs, cups, bowls, plates or pots.
- Please protect the furniture from direct sunlight or heat.
- Do not saturate, scrub or use a harsh brush to clean the furniture.
- Do not place sharp heavy objects on timber surfaces, you may easily mark the surface
- Do not allow children to stand, jump or climb on the furniture.
- Do not allow pets/animals to sit on the furniture.
- Transport the furniture safely; for large items, you will need two or more people to carry, when moving the furniture lift off the ground, do not drag, bend or push the furniture around.
- From time to time it may be necessary to tighten fittings. This is normal and regular inspections should be carried out.
Outdoor furniture
- All outdoor furniture unless otherwise stated carries a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty
We will cover
- any defective part(s) that have failed if after inspection it is due to a manufacturing defect or fault
- any labor associated with repairing the furniture that meets the warranty conditions
We will not cover
- products that are defective that due to abnormal use or careless use of the product
- products that have been damaged due to misuse, or use in such a manner that is deemed inappropriate
- damage incurred from cleaning the furniture with unsuitable products
- damage due to weather conditions
- damage incurred from incorrectly assembling the product
- color fade due to sunlight
Whilst these products have resistance to UV sunlight, color fading is normal due to the nature of NZ's intense UV sunlight and long amount of time the furniture will spend in direct sunlight. Colour fade is not considered a defect and any colour fading experienced is not covered by the warranty.
Caring for your outdoor furniture
As outdoor furniture spends most of its life outside, it is subject to harsh weather conditions. Like any outdoor furniture, it will require care and maintenance to prolong its longevity.
- Clean your outdoor furniture regularly with an appropriate cleaning product and follow their directions exactly
- Before using a cleaning product always test a small inconspicuous area first and watch for any reactions
- Move outdoor furniture out of direct sunlight when not in use
- In winter when your furniture is not in use we recommend you do not leave your furniture outside and take all cushions and store inside in a warm dry place to prevent excess color fading and to prolong your furniture’s longevity
- All umbrellas should be well secured so they do not fall over and get damaged. Umbrellas should not be left open overnight or in strong winds. Damage to umbrellas caused by neglect and extreme weather conditions will not be covered under warranty.
- Do not allow children to stand, jump or climb on the furniture.
- Do not allow pets/animals to sit on the furniture
- Transport the furniture safely; for large items, you will need two or more people to carry, when moving the furniture lift off the ground, do not drag, bend or push the furniture around.
